In an exciting development in the smartphone industry, it is now confirmed that OnePlus is set to enter the foldable phone market with the OnePlus V Fold. According to reports, the model is set to be launched in the third quarter of 2023, with some sources suggesting an August release. Detailed renders of the much-anticipated device have also been leaked by Smartprix in collaboration with trusted industry insider Steve ‘OnLeaks’ Hemmerstoffer.

While early rumors suggested that OnePlus might rebrand the OPPO Find N2 as the OnePlus Fold, these speculations have now been put to rest. The leaked images are from a prototype unit in the testing phase, which generally bears a close resemblance to the final product. It is now confirmed that the OnePlus V Fold will carry its own unique identity and not mirror the OPPO Find N2.

The device unveils a large screen with slender bezels on the front, with a neatly placed selfie camera at the center. Upon unfolding, an additional selfie camera is revealed on the inside. The foldable phone also promises an immersive audio experience with its triple speaker system. A book-style hinge mechanism, reminiscent of the OPPO Find N2 and Samsung Galaxy Z foldable, is also a notable feature.

In terms of design, the OnePlus V Fold boasts a faux leather back for a luxurious feel and premium aesthetics. It is equipped with a triple rear camera system, prominently featuring the esteemed Hasselblad branding, alongside a periscope lens, mirroring the optical zoom capabilities of the Samsung S23 Ultra. The device also includes an integrated fingerprint sensor in the power button and a trademark alert slider seen in OnePlus flagship models.

While the prototype features a faux leather finish, OnePlus is anticipated to introduce other versions of the device with more traditional and premium materials such as metal or glass, appealing to a broader aesthetic spectrum.

The device is anticipated to house a Qualcomm SM8475 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 processor and a 2K 120Hz AMOLED (LTPO) display. It’s expected to feature a robust 50MP (IMX 890) main camera, accompanied by an ultra-wide lens and a periscope lens. The OnePlus V Fold is also set to include a 32MP (OV32C) front camera and a substantial Li-Po 4800mAh battery with 100W SuperVOOC charging.
